AC Milan 0-1 Juventus: Ten-man Milan miss chance to go top of Serie A with home defeat

Manuel Locatelli’s strike against AC Milan was his first goal of the season.

Juventus edged 10-man AC Milan 1-0 at the San Siro on Sunday to stop the hosts from going top of Serie A.

Manuel Locatelli’s 62nd-minute strike was decisive, as the visitors moved up to third, just one point below Milan and two points behind leaders Inter.

The hosts were forced to play with 10 men for over 50 minutes, after Malick Thiaw was sent off for denying Moise Kean a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Both sides were heavily impacted by injuries and suspensions.

Milan’s third choice goalkeeper, 40-year-old Antonio Mirante, started due to Mike Maignan and Marco Sportiello’s absence.

The Italian was largely untroubled until Locatelli’s winner, a deflected which flew in off defender Rade Krunic.

Mirante did make some important stops later on, denying Dusan Vlahovic and Andre Cambiaso, but the hosts struggled to threaten the visitors.

Juventus have lost only once in nine Serie A matches so far this season.
