Australia have recalled left-arm bowler Lauren Cheatle to their squad for the women’s multi-format series against India across December and January.
It is the first time since March 2019 that the 25-year-old has been named in her country’s squad.
Wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy is also included after having surgery on her hand, which she injured when separating her fighting dogs at her home.
Australia will play one Test, three one-dayers and three T20s in India.
Cheatle, who made her Australia debut aged 17 in 2016, has been hampered by injuries which have included four shoulder reconstructions in five years.
She also had a cancerous lump removed from her shin when she was 22.
Cheatle was part of an Australia A side which toured England in the summer, taking 11 wickets across five matches, and has been in impressive form for the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League.
“Lauren Cheatle has overcome significant injury setbacks and thoroughly deserves her place in the squad through her performances over the past six months,” said Cricket Australia national selector Shawn Flegler.
“Lauren has playing experience in India and provides another fast-bowling option, particularly in regard to the Test match which is the format she has been selected for.
“At this stage, we’re planning for Lauren to return to Australia ahead of the white ball formats to play WNCL (Women’s National Cricket League).
“Darcie Brown missed the last two ODIs against the West Indies with a hamstring injury but is back bowling and is on track to be available for Test selection.
“Alyssa Healy’s finger is healing but remains in a splint and our medical team are continuing to monitor her recovery closely. We’re obviously very hopeful she will be available for the Test, but those decisions are still a while away.”
Australia captain Meg Lanning announced her international retirement earlier this month and Flegler added that her successor “will be confirmed closer to the tour”.
