Grand National-winning jockey Graham Lee has moved hospital as part of his recovery from spinal surgery.

A statement from the Injured Jockeys’ Fund (IJF) said Lee was moving to “the Spinal Unit at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where he will remain for the foreseeable future”.

He remains on a ventilator and his movement is still affected, it added.

A statement last week said Lee was able to “talk normally” after his surgery.

Galway-born Lee rode more than 1,000 winners over the jumps, including Amberleigh House for trainer Ginger McCain in the 2004 Grand National.

He switched to riding on the Flat in 2012 and won the Gold Cup at Ascot three years later with Trip To Paris.
