Sunday evening’s session of the UK Championship has been delayed by a fire at the Barbican Theatre in York.

World Snooker confirmed that the building was evacuated and that the Fire Brigade put out a small blaze in the reception area of the building.

The venue has now been deemed safe for fans and players to return to.

Matches between Shaun Murphy and Hossein Vafaei and Ali Carter and Matthew Selt, which were due to start at 19:00 GMT will now begin at 20:00.
