Great Britain’s Beth Munro won gold at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix as compatriot Amy Truesdale took silver.

European champion and Paralympic silver medallist Munro, 30, beat neutral athlete Elena Savinskaya 12-2 in the -65kg category in Manchester.

Truesdale, who won a third world title in September, lost to Uzbekistan’s Guljonoy Naimova in the +65kg category.

The victories mean both have done enough to secure a place at the Paralympics in Paris next year.

Truesdale, 34, missed out on gold by one point as she lost a dramatic encounter 11-10 in the final seconds.

Munro’s silver at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games was Team GB’s first ever Paralympic taekwondo medal, while Truesdale later won bronze.

The Grand Prix in Manchester from 1-3 December is the last chance for British fighters to gain qualifying points for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris next summer.
